RITC 111 - ECS Goes 3-0
Sean Downey cut down from 170 to weigh in at 153 pounds to face Shane Badia at 155. A bit weakened, hungry, and dehydrated, Sean seemed anxious to show what he could do. RITC action continued as Sean took the cage for the second fight of the night. Shane was intent on finishing the fight with a guillotine choke, but Sean wouldn't give him the satisfaction. (Lucky for us, instructor Vieira reviewed guillotine choke defense earlier that week too!). Sean took Shane to the ground and attempted to use the choke as an arm-bar transition set-up, but Sean ended up getting Shane's back. The round ended with a rear-naked choke. Congrats on your RITC debut and 1st win, Sean!
Tim Wagoner made the decision to get his final amateur fight only DAYS before RITC 111. We got him on the fight card in the short notice, but he ended up being matched with a Slovakian kickboxer who out-weighed him by 14 pounds. Boris stood at 6'7" and 185 pounds, but Tim agreed in spite of the size differential. Tim didn't waste any time taking away his opponents reach advantage as he took the fight to the ground. Tim attempted an Uma Plata. As Boris stepped over to defend the submission, Tim quickly applied a toe-hold to secure the shortest fight of the night at 48 seconds. Tim is now 5-0 and awaiting his first pro fight in Prescott in July. Congrats Tim!
Oh, by the way, Brent Agee stayed behind to battle in P-Town Throwdown Saturday night. Although I didn't get to see it, I heard Brent did a great deal of damage and finished the fight with a mean arm-bar submission. We're looking forward to Brent making his fight debut in one of the upcoming RITC events. Excellent job Brent!
